A little background:
For 14 years, this car existed as a fuel sipping ’90 CRX, that is unil I decided to purchase the car and use it to fulfill my “need” for a cheap track car. If you believe in the theory that it is more fun to make a slow car go fast; than, make a fast car fast, this is your ideal car. From factory, the HF had an engine with a whopping 65 crank HP which is great for fuel mileage, but not for autocross or track days. Along with the small engine, the HF has small front brakes and rear drums. Obviously, these issues would be the first on the upgrade list.
Since the purchase date, the car has received a ZC SOHC engine, ZC transmission, LSD, Si front brakes and Acura rear disc brakes. These upgrades have help the car emmensly on the autocross course and a road course; however, the want for more speed started to increase, so the weightloss regiment started.
The interior was removed, racing seats installed, AC components removed, Lexan side\hatch windows installed, etc. While the car tips the scales at 1970lbs, it doesn’t take long to realize that you are driving in a tin can with every sound reverberating through out the sheet metal cabin, so I needed to make a decision, make it streetable or turn it into a track car.
Well… this site will show the evolution of the HF into a track car and the experiments that I think up during slow times. The Red Ricer Motorsports Blog will have the details on upgrades, track days, autocrosses and rambling thoughts
